On our Way to Arizona
The week before we where supposed to leave we got hit with a ton of snow storms. We where scheduled to leave on Saturday the 20th but a huge storm was supposed to hit on top of the already accumulating snow. There was a storm on Thursday that kept everyone home from school and work. Friday there was supposed to be a break in the storms before Saturday. School was canceled so we decided to leave Fri. Thursday night we decided we needed to get our car down the hill or it would be to icy in the morning to get it out. Chase pulled the car out of the driveway and he immediately started sliding down the hill. He had know control. He ran into one of the tractors on the side of the road that bumped him back into the right path and he was able to turn and not go straight onto the main busy road. We should have known if it was that hard to get out of our driveway that it was going to be a hard drive. That night to load up the car we had to put our luggage on our sleds and pull it down the street. The next morning it was sunny and we where on our way. The sun only lasted for about 1 hr. and then we had snow storms the rest of the way. It was supposed to take us 12 hrs. to get to Salt Lake, we left at 8:30 in the morning and arrived in Layton Utah at 2:00 a.m. We didn't really even stop, because we didn't want to get stuck. I took pictures of the drive by our house but as soon as it got scary I put the camera away. It was one of the scariest things we have ever done. There where times when we could not see a foot in front of us and we where sliding every where. It felt like we sledded all the way down to Utah. It was complete snow and ice you couldn't even see the roads. I prayed the whole time, it was a miracle that we made it. I don't think we will be doing that again any time soon.

Of course you would move up to the north country during one of the snowiest winters on record, right?!
I'm sorry it was such a scary drive. Glad you made it home safe and sound.
That is so scary! Driving in the snow with white knuckles (as Grant would call it) it dangerous. We were glad you made it and the boys could play atleast once while you were here.
oh i think i have heart palpitations just reading that! I live in Canada, and it's been terrible here too, and we hardly ever venture out of the snow gets bad. I'm so glad you made it home ok!
holy cow! scary!
glad you made it safely.
I thought you guys would be flying and wondered if you ever made it out. I can't believe you drove! You guys are crazy! LOL Glad you made it there & back again safely. Happy new year!
we are glad that you risked your lives...and your sanity to come visit!
